BOP keeps up the torture and deaths

October 19, 2004 – Jose Maja, BOP #49118-019 has been in BOP custody for about 13 years. Mr. Maja is one of the thousands the BOP refuses to release when their sentence is up.

This is not an isolated incident. It happens all the time costing taxpayers millions of dollars while delivering cruel and abusive treatment to prisoners.

Jose is a Mexican citizen and a very gentle older man. Jose’s 13-year excessive sentence was up on September 2, 2004.

BOP Regional Director, R. E. Holt, along with Assistant BOP Director Cooksey refused to release Mr. Maja and are forcing him to remain confined at Yazoo punishment prison in Yazoo, Mississippi, past his mandatory release date.

This writer has met many prisoners the BOP has treated like this for no reason whatsoever. Some of the prisoners this writer has met have been kept confined more than 2 years after their sentence was up; just because they were not US citizens.

This torture and unlawful activity by the BOP needs to stop. Some prisoners have died in similar circumstances !!
