Aug 20, 2004 Officer G. Corrente at Yazoo Prison does it right!!

1. After almost 3 years at Yazoo prison; Kimball witnessed one lunch of mercy at Yazoo Federal prison in Yazoo, Mississippi.

2. Normal lunch at Yazoo prison is standing outside in the rain, freezing cold and blistering heat for 10 to 45 minutes in line waiting to eat lunch.

3. Kimball and many other prisoners call this nothing more than the normal torture at Yazoo punishment prison.

4. After over 2 years of this uncalled for abuse by certain staff at Yazoo; Kimball approached a Lieutenant Foster. Lt. Foster formally Yazoo prison’s “secret investigative service” (SIS) king pin ; was in charge of calling each group of prisoners to lunch. The line was about 300 prisoners deep and about a 30-minute wait outdoors in the extreme heat , with the sun beating down it must have been over 100 degrees.

5. Prisoners in wheelchairs were suffering; as were the prisoners with medical disabilities; to include prisoners with serious heart conditions.

6. Kimball asked Lt. Foster as he was standing by the cafeteria watching the prisoners suffering; “Why do you torture these prisoners like this?” Lt. Foster just looked at Kimball as if he didn’t know what Kimball was talking about. Kimball went on to explain this type of cruel and abusive treatment didn’t happen at the prison Kimball came from, as NO prisoners were allowed to wait outside and suffer.

7. Lt. Foster turned and stated to Kimball: “What do you think the troops have to do in Iraq?” Kimball said nothing as Lt. Foster’s statement made no sense. Lt. Foster continued: They have to stand in line to get their food the same as these prisoners have to do.

8. Kimball replied, but we are not at war here and many of these prisoners are very sick and handicapped. Lt. Foster replied: “This is run the way it is supposed to be.” Rather than say anymore and get placed in the “hole” for insubordination, Kimball walked away.

9. However, Kimball spoke with other BOP staff members about the problem. They seemed to understand there could be improvement.

10. About a month ago; after the higher ups at Yazoo prison had gone home; some of the officers on duty started calling the units, half units at a time; so no prisoners had to stand outside. The food lines were short and no one had to wait long to acquire their food.

11. It was clear to Kimball that the higher ups running Yazoo prison, that were always standing in front of the cafeteria at lunch time; ordered their lower staff to make sure there were long lines and prisoners suffered to acquire their food. After all, they are right there watching them suffer in the long lines.

Not today
Aug. 20, 2004!!

12. Officer G. Corrente was in charge of calling the units for lunch :

A little about Officer Corrente: Officer Corrente arrived at Yazoo from a state prison a few months ago. He was assigned to Kimball’s unit as a night time officer. Kimball’s unit is one of the worst in the prison and totally out of control, nor is there any courtesy amongst the prisoners. Kimball believes there are more mentally impaired prisoners in his unit, than any other unit he has seen in the BOP.

  1. The first week Officer Corrente was on duty; because some of the demented prisoners in Kimball’s unit didn’t like him; they put feces on the door handle of Corrente’s office. Kimball ran into the same feces as he needed to get something out of Corrente’s office. Officer Corrente handled the situation very well. Kimball had no choice but to grin and bear it being constantly around mentally disturbed prisoners.
  1. Kimball did not speak to Corrente other than to say hello to, but he watched his actions when he was working. Even though Officer Corrente is slightly overweight, he moved faster than any other officer on the compound. He also appeared to take his work seriously while keeping a humane attitude toward prisoners.
  1. About a month ago, Officer Corrente and one other officer, (name unknown at the time of this writing) started calling half units at a time for dinner to eliminate the long lines and medical suffering. It worked like a charm. As long as Officer Corrente, or the other officer were in charge of the prison compound, the long lines stopped.

13. Aug. 20, 2004 Officer Corrente was in charge of the compound and was calling the units to lunch. For the first time in 2 ½ years there were very short lines, and a short wait for lunch.

Although Officer Corrente couldn’t call half units; only because Yazoo prison doesn’t know how to handle half unit calls for lunch; Officer Corrente was sincerely appreciated by many prisoners that are not mentally impaired; for keeping the food line short.

Hail to Officer Corrente

14. One thing Kimball did notice : “O. D. Holland” the head of UNICOR (BOP sweatshops) was NOT present at lunch. Kimball believes O. D. Holland is the person that actually runs Yazoo Federal punishment Prison under the direction of BOP Regional Director, R. E. Holt. O. D. Holland may not have allowed Officer Corrente to have any mercy on the prisoners at Yazoo.

15. Short lived however: Aug. 20, 2004 was a Friday. The following Monday August 23, 04 Officer Corrente was not the officer calling the prisoners for lunch any longer and of course the lines were back to normal 300-400 people waiting in lines again.

A new warden arrives at Yazoo: Ms. Reese, the new warden stands watching the 400 some odd prisoners suffer; as they wait up to 30 minutes in the extreme heat to secure their lunch on Monday, Aug. 23, 2004.

16. Warden Reese must approve : of the torture; cruel and abusive treatment going on at Yazoo! The long lines of 300-400 prisoners standing in the extreme heat and rain have been continuous since her arrival; to include using hand pushed reel lawn mowers. Pushed by prisoners at Yazoo to cut the 20 some odd acres of grass.

In fact everything so far remains the same at Yazoo Punishment prison as depicted on this website under Torture and Death Camps Across The US under the direction of Mrs. Reese, since her arrival.

Torture and Death Are Daily Occurrences At Yazoo

Hail!! to Officer Corrente even if for only one lunch.
