U.S. Marshals help Kimball
06-22-09
update
As if the U.S. Marshals hadn't already done enough by checking on Kimball's doctor appointment and ensuring all was on schedule, they further spent over an hour to visit with Kimball. The U.S. Marshal who visited Kimball was, of course, Donnie Foster; on behalf of Supervisor Rem Suarey, Chief Morefield, and the Brunswick Office. We have no doubt that Marshal Foster visited with Kimball before he even knew we posted a news update detailing how he helped Kimball. This action truly goes to show that we are not lying or exaggerating when we say the U.S. Marshals in Brunswick, on behalf of their chief in Savannah, get things done quickly and thoroughly, with compassion and concern for those forced to remain in the system until the court takes proper action.
U.S. Marshals, on a constant basis, are forced to deal with pretty sick criminals. Normally, dealing with such people has a great psychological impact over time. It is obvious that the U.S. Marshals of Brunswick, Georgia have not allowed such consistent experiences to effect their treatment of those who are honest & good that end up in their custody for whatever amount of time. We think everyone should at least know of Marshal Foster because he deserves to be recognized for his unwavering American values, as do his superiors, who have also retained their American values despite their power and their experiences throughout their career in law enforcement & dealing with criminals. Once more, special thanks to the U.S. Marshal Service.
The U.S. Marshals of the Southern District of Georgia prove their concern for the welfare of prisoners like Kimball. Prior to this news update, Kimball's son, Jason, sent a fax to chief Marshal Morefield in great concern for his father's health. Jason was worried the funds and manpower necessary to watch over normal prisoners while they're at a doctor's office or a hospital would effect whether or not his father received vital surgery and the necessary doctor appointments.
Jason received a prompt / timely response from the U.S. Marshals, specifically U.S. Marshal Donnie Foster. Jason, who sent a copy of his communication to Supervisor Rem Suarey, had met Marshal Foster on a previous occasion. While Kimball was in the hospital ICU for nearly an entire week, Rem Suarey asked Marshal Foster if he would take time to escort Kimball's wife and son to visit Kimball in ICU. Marshal Foster took nearly an hour out of his own time to allow Kimball to see his family. Marshal Foster is by far a true (and very honest) American.
U.S. Marshal Foster called Jason on behalf of Chief Marshal Morefield, and inquired to the fax's intent. The emotions in writing the fax had made it difficult to understand a clear purpose. Jason informed Marshal Foster that he knew of the resources the U.S. Marshals use when a normal prisoner goes to a doctor. He informed Marshal Foster of his fear that the amount of resources may be the reason his father hadn't yet met with a urologist or had his surgery.
U.S. Marshal Foster, on behalf of Chief Marshal Morefield, explicitly informed Jason that he would not stand for money being put above life, and that the Mcintosh County Jail was in charge of scheduling Kimball's urology appointment, not the U.S. Marshals. He went on to explain that he and others had researched the situation with his father (from the charges, the sentence, the reason he left the camp), and understand it. He also went on to explain that others he worked with, especially Chief Marshal Morefield and Supervisor Suarey, would not allow funds or manpower to go above the life of a person.
Even though the medical at the jail was totally in charge of scheduling Kimball's important urology appointment so that he could go ahead with his surgery, the U.S. Marshals of the southern district of Georgia felt it necessary to check on the status of the appointment. Because of their concern for Kimball's health, the U.S. Marshals took it up on themselves to spend time communicating with the Mcintosh County Jail medical to ensure everything was in order.
Kimball was later called into medical and informed he was definitely setup for an appointment. We believe we have the U.S. Marshals to thank, for their understanding, for their very quick response, and for their concern. After Kimball meets with the urologist, he can go ahead with his surgery. The U.S. Marshals know of the importance of Kimball's surgery (which is intended to save his life). Even though Mcintosh County medical will coordinate with Kimball's surgeon to schedule the surgery, the U.S. Marshals definitely gave the impression that they will be checking in to make sure everything is completed properly and in a timely manner. We have learned that the U.S. Marshals of the Southern District of Georgia make sure things get done properly and quickly. If something is wrong, they handle it immediately and thoroughly. They will, of course, be transporting Kimball to his appointment and to the hospital when his surgery is scheduled.
Special thanks to Chief Marshal Morefield, Supervisor Rem Suarey, Marshal Donnie Foster, and the U.S. Marshals of the Southern District of Georgia, especially in Brunswick, Georgia.
