14. George Akins, BOP #90320-020.

Approximately 60 years old. Prisoner Akins had serious heart problems and needed triple by-pass surgery. The BOP placed Mr. Akins' life at risk delaying the needed urgent surgery.

Prisoner Akins was taken out for triple bypass surgery on 7/27/03 which was a Monday and returned to Yazoo prison the following Friday.

When Akins was returned to Yazoo he had fluid around his lungs and heart.

In all Kimball's investigations it appears crystal clear that standard operating procedure for the BOP is to demand that the doctors and hospitals the BOP subcontracts around the United States release the BOP prisoners before the normal recovery time from surgery.

Kimball has also been advised the BOP trains their supervisory personnel in medical; i.e., the Health Services Administrator and Clinical Director, to persuade outside contract doctors and hospitals to release the prisoners early because their BOP medical clinic have excellent post operative care; which is a total lie.

One BOP subcontracted ethical specialist told Kimball he didn't care if the BOP ever sent him another prisoner, because the BOP allows the prisoner to degenerate to near death before any professional medical treatment is administered to him. This subject is well discussed under Bureau of Prisons (BOP); then under Medical Treatment Of Prisoners.

Prisoner Akins didn't last even one day under the care of Yazoo medical and was dying. Yazoo medical and its personnel could not contend with the fluid buildup they had gotten Akins released back into their custody with.

The BOP deliberately put Akins' life in danger again by having Akins released into their incompetent medical custody in a serious and life-threatening circumstance.

The exact same day Akins was released he was rushed back to the hospital in a life or death situation, created by the BOP. This time Akins stayed in the hospital for about 2 weeks. Then returned to the control of the BOP.

A few days later Akins revealed fluid buildup again around his lungs and was taken again to the outside doctor and hospital.

It appears that the BOP not only employs within itself unqualified and incompetent medical staff; the BOP in many cases subcontracts the cheapest licensed butcher, that has a license or that can be found.

We have been informed that the surgeon involved with Akins was a Dr. Mazzio from Vicksburg, Mississippi. His incompetence is reflected within the victims on this site. However, we are awaiting absolute confirmation.

The good news out of all this torture and neglect suffered by Mr. Atkins is that he is still alive. Many prisoners that suffered the same torture and neglect, such as prisoner Benny Phillips, reflected herein, died of such BOP torture and neglect.
