17. Ricardo Romero, BOP#********

Age approximately 40. After prisoner Romero arrived at Yazoo Prison and while he was working at UNICOR, he wasn't feeling well and went to sick call. Mr. Romero was in good health and physical condition.

At sick call he was interviewed by a Physician's Assistant, PA Frickey. PA Frickey took Romero's blood pressure by putting his finger on Romero's wrist for about 15 seconds. Romero had not been on any medications previously.

PA Frickey told Romero he had low blood pressure and prescribed medication for low-blood pressure.

Two or three days later prisoner Romero broke out in heavy sweats, collapsed and lost consciousness. Romero was immediately taken to Yazoo medical and given 2 nitro-glycerin pills that didn't work; however the third did, or Mr. Romero wouldn't be alive today.

Romero while in emergency at Yazoo medical overheard the Clinical Director, Dr. Chambers (an unlicensed person to practice medicine by any state in the United States) tell a nurse that Romero was given the wrongmedication by Frickey. Chambers also asked how was PA Frickey able to prescribe such medication by himself.

Needless to say Romero lived, but medically impaired for the rest of his life.

Alleged Dr. Chambers advised prisoner Romero that he has chronic, very high, blood pressure and has to take 9 medications 1-3 times daily for his own good.

Those medications are Dephenhydramine, Hydroxyzine, Metoprobal, Hydrochlorothiazide, Chlorpteniranune, Polycarbophil Cal, Lisnopril, Gemfibrozil, and aspirin.

Dr. Chambers did not tell Romero, he received the wrong medication from PA Frickey or all that is wrong with Romero that the wrong medication caused him.

Romero has been on such a regiment of medications going on 3 years at Yazoo.

As for PA Frickey, he was reportedly transferred by the BOP; present address unknown. (This accounting was reported to Kimball by Prisoner Romero.)

Prisoner Romero additionally reported to Kimball the accounting of another prisoner which was a good friend of his, that worked with Romero at UNICOR.

This prisoner's name was Iglesias Recardo and was another victim of the BOP's medical department at Yazoo.

According to Romero, prisoner Recardo told him he was having severe chest pains and then went to Yazoo medical which alleged Dr. Chambers controlled under Regional Director R. E. Holt.

Yazoo medical told Recardo that he only had gas pains.

Romero stated a few days later that Recardo told Romero the day before Recardo died that his chest pains were very severe and Yazoo medical refused to see him.

Recardo died in his housing unit that night.
