7. Billy Vernon Bates - BOP #11681-042
Around January 2003 prisoner Bates discovered a lump on the side of his neck. Mr. Bates went to BOP medical at Yazoo Prison explaining about this lump and associated pain.
The medical department of the BOP operated by a Mrs. Barbara Sullivan, Health Services Administrator (HSA) and Clinical Director, alleged Dr. Anthony Chambers. Dr. Chambers is a BOP titled medical doctor who is not licensed or medically board certified to practice medicine in any state within the United States.
The medical department of the BOP at Yazoo refused to professionally diagnose or treat Bates for the rapidly growing tumor. Essentially the BOP did nothing.
As the months went by the tumor grew rapidly and the pain became unbearable for Mr. Bates.
Finally, after enduring serious pain for months, constantly intensifying, and now with the tumor 10 times its original size, the BOP medical department finallyauthorized prisoner Bates to be professionally diagnosed and a biopsy taken.
Directly after the biopsy which revealed severemalignancy and in excruciating pain the BOP flatly refused to give anything to Mr. Bates for the unbearable pain he was in.
The BOP refused to tell Mr. Bates the very serious life threatening condition he had degenerated to; due only to deliberate neglect to treat or diagnose Bates' serious life threatening condition. This is a direct violation of law, BOP Policy PS 6000.5, Chapter 1, Page 1 and all human rights.
Mr. Bates was eventually transferred to a BOP medical prison; Butner FML, Butner, N.C. The last report from BOP in Yazoo was that Mr. Bates was sent to Butner to die.
