Victim David Cross

20. David Cross, BOP #63196-065
Is approximately 50 years old. Prisoner Cross is another one of the hundreds of thousands of prisoners that is totally innocent of the crime he was charged with. Mr. Cross's story can be reviewed under Rigged Trials Across The US located on the top of this page.

Prisoner Cross was sentenced to 4 years for a crime the court and the prosecutor knew he did not commit. He was sentenced in Oregon where his family lived. The Government personnel did not like Cross, so even though he was living and sentenced in Oregon he was sent 2,000 milesaway to serve his term at Yazoo Prison in Yazoo, Mississippi.

Mr. Cross is legally blind and can only see a few inches to read, using specially made thick glasses. Also Cross used a blind man’s stick, so he can feel his way around with his walking stick.

After Cross's arrival at Yazoo Prison, the BOP refused to allow Cross the use of his walking stick, nor the use of his special glasses in which he could read large sized print with.

It took Cross 7 months, before the BOP would allow his walking stick. It took over 2 years before Cross was allowed his glasses by the BOP. R. E. Holt, BOP Regional Director, tortures the handicapped on his hit list the same as any other prisoner on the BOP's hit list.

The BOP refused to assign another prisoner to assist Cross in getting around the prison grounds, going to the cafeteria or anywhere else.

At one time at Yazoo, Cross was allowed to go to meals early and not wait in the huge lines. However, the BOP stopped that benefit for Cross, so he has to stand in long lines in the rain, in the freezing cold, and extreme heat just to eat in the cafeteria.

The rule allowing Mr. Cross to eat early with easy access to the cafeteria appeared to end abruptly in one day. As Mr. Cross assisted by another inmate went to early lunch and entered as they always did through the exit door to avoid the long line, a person name Mr. Holland stopped them and refused to let Cross enter, telling Cross he had to go to the end of the line and wait like everyone else.

Mr. Holland who is the head of the company "UNICOR" which is in almost every prison complex throughout the United States, appeared to change the former rules that assisted the handicapped in an instant.

When an Assistant Warden (AW) was approached thereafter about the instant rule change, he didn't like it; however when he was told that a Mr. Holland ordered it the AW said there was nothing he could do about it and became disinterested in the problem, Kimball was advised.

It appears that Mr. Holland, in charge of the UNICOR plant at Yazoo, may well be the Regional Director's No. 1 man at Yazoo Prison.

For those of you that are not familiar with the UNICOR Corporation, which no one appears to be able to find out who owns the corporate stock in; is a chain of sweat shop factories, only on BOP prison Government land, paying the prisoners an average of 15 cents to 50 cents an hour for working 40-80 hours per week. UNICOR is discussed further under Bureau Of Prisons (BOP) located at the top of this page.

The treatment Mr. Cross received via the orders of BOP Director R. E. Holt and whoever else in the BOP that is responsible, is and continues to be, inhumane, given the fact Mr. Cross is legally blind. The judge and federal employees that convicted Mr. Cross were evil with emphasis upon the judge and BOP employees that sent Cross over 2,000 miles away from his family to serve his 4-year term for a crime everyone knew he didn't commit. As for BOP employee Holland removing he only humane privilege Mr. Cross and other handicapped prisoners had at Yazoo, is unconscionable at theleast.

Mr. Cross was tortured mentally the 3 years he has been at Yazoo. Thankfully his prison term is up in a few months, if he lives through them.
