Victim Walter K. Gothard

17. Walter K. Gothard, BOP #05188-074
Age approximately 50. Prisoner Gothard reported to Kimball that when he came to Yazoo Prison he was placed in the hole, and assigned a top bunk bed. The bunk beds in the hole do not have ladders to use to get into the 5' high bed; nor do the hole bunk beds have safety rails to prevent a prisoner from falling the 5' onto the cement floor.

Kimball has actually witnessed prisoners fall of the top bunk in the hole. The BOP doesn't even provide a chair for an inmate to climb into the 5' high bunk. This appears to be standard throughout the United States that all BOP hole cells have no ladder or safety rails. This subject is covered in detail under Bureau of Prisons (BOP) at the top of this page.

Prisoner Gothard was climbing on the toilet then the sink (which is normal) to get into the top bunk.

Gothard stated his foot slipped on the sink and he fell backward on to the cement floor and injured his back.

Gothard reported to Kimball he requested help from Yazoo medical to no avail. Gothard continued to complain about the non-medical treatment.

Gothard was wrongly and illegally placed in the hole after complaining about the BOP refusing him medical treatment on Sept. 7, 02. Gothard's phone and commissary privileges were also removed after being placed in the hole.

The BOP at Yazoo refused to allow Mr. Gothard due process.

Mr. Gothard was released from BOP custody and his present address is held confidential.
