Victim Tyrone Sanders

19. Tyrone Sanders, BOP #05855-003
Age approximately 40. Prisoner Sanders injured himself while playing basketball and was taken to Yazoo medical at Yazoo Prison, Mississippi on May 10, 2002.

The PA on duty May 10, 2002 did not x-ray Sanders leg, only handed him an ace bandage and a pair of crutches. Even though Sanders was in excruciating pain, the PA would do nothing for the horrible pain Sanders was in.

The first day Yazoo's medical department was open for Sanders was May 13, 2002. Mr. Sanders was at the door still in excruciating pain. His leg was severely swollen and had turned completely black in the injured area. Alleged Dr. Chambers examined Sanders. Dr. Chambers had Sander's leg x-rayed and advised Sanders his ankle was broken. Dr. chambers told Sanders to leave and go back to his housing unit with his ace bandage and crutches.

Not satisfied with non-USA licensed Dr. Chambers medical treatment; prisoner Sanders went to Assistant Warden Fisher and told him his story, aforementioned. Shortly thereafter, Sanders was paged to medical where Dr. Chambers attempted to put on a cast without first setting the fracture.

Dr. Chambers in the next 30 days attempted to put on 3 casts (which all split) without any attempt to set the break first, or send Sanders to an outside professional to do what Dr. Chambers was incapable of doing.

Finally Dr. Chambers gave up on making a proper cast and gave Mr. Sanders a special boot to wear. For the next seven month period, more x-rays were taken, which revealed Dr. Chambers was wrong about just breaking an ankle. Sanders had broken his leg in 2 places.

When Sanders asked for his medical records, which were prepaid, Yazoo refused to provide them.

When Sanders filed his complaint through BOP Regional Director, R. E. Holt's office in Atlanta, Mr. Holt's stonewalled Sanders complaint, depriving Sanders of his constitutional right to due process and access to the courts.

Yazoo did finally have Sanders examined by outside professional specialists. Because the fractures were not set, or attended to immediately or in a professional manner; the specialist told Sanders he needed therapy outside of Yazoo Prison, which the BOP refused to allow.

As of Dec. 23, 2002 Sanders' foot is pointed out and he cannot walk properly. Additionally the black area is still visible where the fractures occurred.

The deliberate neglect and torturous treatment received from the BOP, appears to have deformed Sanders for life.
